Delete Topic

Delete a topic and all associated subscriptions.

Use Cases:

• Remove deprecated or unused topics
• Clean up topics after restructuring
• Consolidate duplicate topics
• Archive old newsletter categories
• Maintain a clean topic list

Behavior:

• Topic and all contact subscriptions are deleted
• Contacts are NOT deleted (only their topic subscriptions)
• Historical email stats for this topic are preserved
• Cannot be undone - topic is permanently removed
• Segments referencing this topic may need updates
• Automations using this topic may break

Required Scope: write:topics

Data Impact:

• Topic record is permanently deleted
• All contact subscriptions to this topic are removed
• Contacts remain in workspace with other subscriptions
• Email performance data remains (but topic reference is removed)
• Preference center links to this topic will break

Important:

• Verify no active campaigns are using this topic
• Update automations that reference this topic
• Consider archiving instead of deleting for audit trails
• Warn contacts if you're removing a topic they're subscribed to

Note: This is a destructive operation. Consider creating a new topic and migrating subscribers before deleting the old one.
